FWIW Try the Deletion of ALL Adobe Preferences

The deletion of the entire Adobe folder within both the boot Library Preferences and User Preferences finally solved the whole damned frustration of AE CC 2014 not working at all (while CC did...).

I went the whole merry-go-round of resetting the privileges, re-installing QuickTime, deleting old codecs (Matrox), restart after restart to no avail.

But the final elimination of all Adobe Prefs did the trick. All of the CC 2014 apps now boot properly, instead of only some of them and the speed of all CC apps' boot is markedly improved.

Why was this so hard & frustrating?? Somewhere in the CC 2014 universe, this solution should be highlighted and made sticky. IMO
