Multi-channel sequence and Quicktime export

I need to create a multi-channel 422HQ Quicktime file from a sequence and I'm a bit confused.  I have 4 stereo tracks - a stereo mix, a stereo Dialogue mix, a stereo Effects mix and a stereo music mix.  This file is going to be used in an edit by another as part of a montage (presumably with different music) - thus the splits.

I created a multi-channel sequence with a multichannel master and 4 "standard" tracks.  Here's where I get confused.  In the Audio Track Mixer track output assignment for all tracks is set to "Master".  There's no other option.  Under "Direct Output Assignment" do I assign the first track to "1+2", the second to "3+4" and so on or something else?

When I export, under "basic audio settings" under export settings, I have to make a "channels" selection.  I assume "8"?  If I select "8", I then have to select an "Audio Track Layout".  I can choose "Single Track", "8 mono tracks" or "4 stereo pairs".  I chose "4 stereo pairs".

However, the resulting file, when played in a Quicktime player, is clearly playing all 8 track at once.  Is this right?

Just want to be sure I'm doing everything right to create a file that will be useful to whoever (I don't know who it will be) is editing my excerpt into a longer film.

Thanks!
