Re: PPro as Avid DS replacement

Hi Trevor,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.  What you describe in regard to hard imported stills is exactly what I am describing, so it sounds like Premiere just does not like these single frame MXF imports that have a duration of longer than one frame.  I agree that you might want to replace them normally, but in our workflow we make sure they are imported full res in the 'offline' so we don't need to replace them later.

We transcode because all of our projects are edited at native resolution in the avids (mostly xdcam50) and transcoding to 185x for online is pretty good practice to isolate the final sequence media and DNX is a greater supported format across applications (DS & Resolve especially)

I'm still stumped by the titles thing though.  The AAF conforms these titles to 2160 pixels high.  I like that I at least have the text itself in the titles and i'd just like to format them to my taste, but I can't figure out how to make the title 1080 pixels high without starting from scratch with a new title and pasting the text in.

We are starting to struggle with running the DS.  We are filling our machines with K6000's and K5200's to give Resolve and Premiere the power they need but trying to keep the DS happy with newer hardware is tricky.

Thanks again,

Paul
